Video Streaming – Where Are We Now?

These days, more and more people are giving up traditional cable in favor of streaming their video and TV. In fact, the number of cord-cutters is growing. In 2018, there were 33 million cord-cutters. This number is expected to grow to 55 million by 2022. 

The majority of Americans have access to a streaming service of some kind. What’s more interesting is that many Americans subscribe to multiple streaming services. Consumers that pay for video streaming services are subscribed to an average of three different services.

While, overall, mobile devices are responsible for 50% of internet traffic, a surprising 70% of video streaming is done on a TV. This makes sense when you consider that Netflix is one of the most popular services and 70% of their streams are from connected TVs.
