What you need to do in order to start using Instagram as a standalone photo editor is – go to the options menu at your profile and turn on the Save Original Photos option. What you need to do next is turn on the Airplane Mode on your phone, or turn off any connections to the internet. Once you finish editing the photo, you will receive a message that there was an error and your photo was not uploaded, but it will be saved in your gallery.

Save a Story as a Post
Posting a story to Instagram is great for many reasons, but sometimes you would like to keep it on your profile for a bit longer than 24 hours.
